JomSocial Expired

Hi there!

First of all: please excuse my bad english - school is long time ago ;)

I have a few problems with the jomsocial component...
Hope i can get any help here :-)

1. Frontpage edit
I hope i'm not blind at all, but i can't find any posibility to delet the "friends" and "groups" moduls on the frontpage. Is there any chance to delet ist manually or do i have to edit the template code? When, what do i have to change there?

2. Toolbar
Can't remember i haver ever seen this thing on my side. I have read that the menue can be find in JomSocial toolbar. I have a menue here with the name but changed the entries at sometime and off it was..... can it be recreated or someting like that? I would really like to have it on my side!

3. and most important: User Entries/ Menü on the frontpage

I want to change the Name of the entries as well as the link it refers on. User shall write own texts (like a blog) which should be linked to one of these entries for example. Is it also possible to open the texts on the frontpage as well?

Thanks for any help!

Hi, Kira.

1. Navigate via FTP to ROOT/components/com_community/templates/default
Copy files:
profile.friends.php
profile.groups.php

to ROOT/templates/your_template/html/com_community (if you don't have 'html' or 'com_community' folders - feel free to create them)

Here is full documentation for it: documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Customizing_Template

In both files delete all that is below:

defined('_JEXEC') or die();
?>

Friends and Groups box in Profile will be gone.

2. Yes, you messed up with toolbar :) You used it for other purposes. I changed it name.
So now we need to recreate it. We can do it manually or restore it during JomSocial upgrade (what is recommended since you have JomSocial 3.1.0.2 and current is 3.1.0.4). I was thinking do do upgrade for you but I don't know if you made any customizations to your JomSocial core files or css... during upgrade they could be overwritten. If you haven't do any cutomization - give me a sign - we'll proceed :)

3. If you want to have a blog and connect it with JomSocial try EasyBlog: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/authoring-a-content/blog/12630 and this extension: www.jomsocial.com/addons/applications/easyblog-plugin

To change this links you'll need to copy this file:

ROOT/components/com_community/templates/default/modules/profile/userinfo.php

to ROOT/templates/your_template/html/com_community/modules/profile

And there just add another list items here:
<ul class="inline unstyled">
								<li><a href="#" class="about js-collapse-about-btn"><?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_ABOUT_ME')?></a></li><li>MY NEW LINK ITEM HERE!!!!</li>
								<?php if($photoEnabled) {?>
								<li>
									<a href="<?php echo CRoute::_('index.php?option=com_community&view=photos&task=myphotos&userid='.$profile->id); ?>">
										<?php echo ($profile->_photos == 1) ? JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_PHOTOS_COUNT_SINGULAR',$profile->_photos) :  JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_PHOTOS_COUNT',$profile->_photos) ?>
									</a>
								</li>
								<?php }?>
								<?php if($videoEnabled) {?>
								<li>
									<a href="<?php echo CRoute::_('index.php?option=com_community&view=videos&task=myvideos&userid='.$profile->id); ?>">
										<?php echo ($profile->_videos == 1) ?  JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_VIDEOS_COUNT',$profile->_videos) : JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_VIDEOS_COUNT_MANY',$profile->_videos) ?>
									</a>
								</li>
								<?php }?>
								<?php if($groupEnabled) {?>
								<li>
									<a href="<?php echo CRoute::_('index.php?option=com_community&view=groups&task=mygroups&userid='.$profile->id); ?>">
										<?php echo ($profile->_groups == 1) ?  JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_GROUPS_COUNT',$profile->_groups) : JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_GROUPS_COUNT_MANY',$profile->_groups) ?>
									</a>
								</li>
								<?php }?>
								<?php if($eventEnabled) {?>
								<li>
									<a href="<?php echo CRoute::_('index.php?option=com_community&view=events&task=myevents&userid='.$profile->id); ?>">
										<?php echo ($profile->_events == 1) ? JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_EVENTS_COUNT',$profile->_events) : JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_EVENTS_COUNT_MANY',$profile->_events) ?>
									</a>
								</li>
								<?php }?>
								<li>
									<a href="<?php echo CRoute::_('index.php?option=com_community&view=friends&userid='.$profile->id); ?>">
										<?php echo ($profile->_friends == 1) ?  JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_FRIENDS_COUNT',$profile->_friends) : JText::sprintf('COM_COMMUNITY_FRIENDS_COUNT_MANY',$profile->_friends) ?>
									</a>
								</li>
								<!-- Karma -->
								<?php if($config->get('enablekarma')){ ?>
									<li class="cFocus-karma jomNameTips" title="<?php echo JText::_('COM_COMMUNITY_KARMA'); ?>"><img src="<?php echo $karmaImgUrl; ?>" alt="" /></li>
								<?php } ?>
							</ul>

Remember to create proper links to components or other places in Joomla! Menu, so every link will have its own menu item id.

Alright, i messed it up. Damn it :-) Don't remember that i did any customization yet. I would appreciate it if you would do the update! :-)
Thanks a lot for all hints! I will test it during the day!

Hi, Kira.

I've made a safe copy for you so don't worry if some customization was lost due to upgrade.

JomSocial toolbar is back again :)
You... or someone else disabled it :)
For future reference, you can disable/enable it here:

Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Configuration -> Layout -> set "Show toolbar" status to "YES/NO"

But you'll need to create all links in JomSocial manually, I'm sorry.

Here are some tips for JomSocial Toolbar:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Toolbar_Explained
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Translate_Toolbar

And why my toolbar looks so odd, you may ask. Well, it is caused by your current template. Try to enable a Joomla! default template and toolbar start to works/looks perfectly.

hi again,
i tried the hint as described in the documentation. Mofified the profil.friend and profil.groups, created the override com_community in my template and created a new style.css with a reference to the default style.css. Unfortunately my users see a demolished now if they visit their profiles. The groups and friends boxes are gone but the template is ruined at their sites.
I even tried this process by copying the sample override folder in my template which should modify the frontpage.guest but the result is still the same. Any idea? :-(

Hi, Kira.

Uups... you broke something. Don't worry, I'll help you :D

It's fixed. I commented whole right panel and extended main column into 100% width.

Is it resolved now? :)

Yeahi, it work's! Thanks a lot!!! One last question :-)
I created a few entries in the toolbar but now i have something like a second menue right above the toolbar. Appears in all templates. It even shows up, if i create the entries exactly as it is described in the documentation.

Hi, Kira.

:D it's because you add a module to display JomSocial toolbar :) (JomSocial Menü). No, you don't need that - I disabled it.
Just continue adding menu links in JomSocial toolbar.

Hi there!

Where exactly have you extended the main column into 100% width??? I tried it by my own in the protostar template. Works fine but the main column looks a bit to small.

Thanks for your help!

Hi, Kira.

Uhm... I lost you a bit after this 2 months :) I'm sorry but you have to be more specific... again what exactly you want to achieve.
I see that you have 3 columns in your site. They have width as follows:

span3 = about 20%
span6 = about 60%
span3 = about 20%

So i's ok... but probably referring to JomSocial template overrides I made 2months ago.. right? Well, then just copy com_community folder from html folder in your previous template to your current (also to html folder) and you don't have to do them again.
