Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
New users are not being registered on my site. On clicking the Register they are getting the following error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/components/com_community/controllers/register.php on line 780
Having looked at that file the issue is here:
$name = $user->get('name');
I have been through the forum and have seen that I should disable third party plugins which I have done and none of them seem to have an impact. I have also enabled Jomsocial Redirect plugin as per one suggestion on the forum and that hasn't help either.
Recently I have installed Revolution Slider component but switched that off as well and had no impact. I also have just customized the profile fields so I wonder if that has something to do with it.
First try to upgrade JomSocial to current version. You uses 3.1.0.1, current is 3.1.0.4.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Ok so I have upgraded the Jomsocial to the latest version.
That has got rid of the php error but it still does not register the user. I get redirected to the register form with no CSS when I click on register - the email is sent but no user created.
I'm sorry but I can't replicate your issue on your web site.
I registered with success.
Everything looks fine.
Also user is created in backend.
Please check it.

It looks like a problem with my ISP (very irritating I have been trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist outside of their network!). I have just created an account on another network and it worked.
