My site is working through the process and creates an app permission on the users facebook page.

However, it doesn't create a user in Joomla. Blank box pops up and does nothing.

In the error log, I see 500 internal server error.
I also see "Failure to load resouce" and "Failure to create temp storage file".

You should re-create your FB API because you FB API already deprecated, this is error what I get :

REST API is deprecated for versions v2.1 and higher

Do you mean my APP ID and Secret ID is outdated?

I didn't see any notifcation in my Facebook Developers APP page that gave notice to this,

I added a Facebook SDK Javascript code in my header with my app id. I didn't know this was necessary to add additional code.

Okay, I deleted my app and created a new one. I added the javascript SDK code to my header.

User is able to connect to facebook app, but user is not created in database.

Blank box still appears and does nothing.

What Jomsocial version are you using? seems you are using very old Jomsocial version, right? please you update to the newest version 3.2.1.6
