Compliments.
After I got a sudden 'user id not found' error in Facebook login, I was compelled to renew/upgrade Jomsocial just to find solutions, but no no avail in your forum. Users could login directly into Joomla but not by Facebook. So, I installed jomsocial 3.2.1.6 today and:
1. Using Jomsocial's own integrated Facebook button, I got no site login success but a blank white pop-up box as described in the thread
www.jomsocial.com/forum/facebook-connect...ith-facebook-connect
and
www.jomsocial.com/forum/facebook-connect...ing-in-with-facebook
2. Alternatively, in Jomsocial back-end, setting Facebook Connect fields to SourceCoast's JFBC integration used to bring out SCLogin's Facebook and LinkedIn buttons. Now with the jomsocia; 3.2.x upgrade, only Facebook button shows and it results in the blank pop-up as described.
3. On each login attempt with the button, login actually occurs on Facebook but not on own site. Login at
www.mysite.com/social-networking/
I have no server misconfiguration or curl issues; cURL support: enabled; cURL Information: 7.24.0;
I tried the suggestion of deleting htaccess file and got a 404 error.
Using Joomla! 3.3.6 Stable. No Jomsocial files have been recently modified and issue was sudden. These look like general issues needing closer attention.
Best regards.
Hi Ade,
could you please provide me valid administrator access detail, because I still got "Unable to connect to LDAP server"
maybe you need to turn off LDAP plugin.
please edit your first post at this topic and put any credentials information at site info form.
I need it for debuggin purpose. mostly facebook issue related with server configurations
Regards
Thanks Albertus. Ha, so we meet again (I have past issues still unresolved...)
For now, on the Facebook login issues...
You: 'I still got "Unable to connect to LDAP server"'
Me: 'It does seem that the server might genuinely have been down due to maintenance issues at the time you attended. All functions are back now, with no change in several years' server configurations which could impact Facebook. Could you please try again?'
Also:
a. I un-published ldap as you recommended, and tried to login. (Facebook logs in as previously said) but the login popup box simply disappears on own site's Jomsocial page without any login action on site.
b. In all honesty, considering the very recent issues expressed by other Jomsocial users regarding Facebook login, don't you think it's more to do with the ldap, etc.?
Best regards.
Hi Ade,
facebook issue mostly related with incorrect facebook configuration or server configuration.
now I got "Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet." please edit your first post at this topic. and put valid administrator login detail at site info form.
I need administrator login access for debugging purpose.
and about :
I have past issues still unresolved
could you please give me the link of that forum topic?
Regards
Thanks, again, Albertus.
I do think that you tested Jomsocial's own fields, but you would notice that the Facebook button reflected jfb connect integration chosen (with correct Facebook parameters). We have now swapped these correct parameters directly into Jomsocial's integrated Facebook. I assure you that these details are correct, but leading into the blank pop-up bug, upon upgrade, and as described by me and others.
Update/Addition:
We tried to create permanent back-end admin user details for Jomsocial Support but cannot find Jomsocial component in the list of installed components within Joomla's ACL Global Configurations. Please advise as to how to include Jomsocial ACL support, with a view to apportioning desired access permissions.
Regards.
Hi Ade,
the FTP user not pointing me to joomla root. not sure where is it.
about that blank popup, I got error 500 (this is internal server error). you can see the error logs at server logs.
seem the problem with your htaccess, seem containing custom URL rewrite.
that blank popup using ajax request, but the URL redirect to:
www.yoursite.com/index.php/social-networking/
the correct one must be
www.yoursite.com/index.php
try to revert any htaccess with joomla default
Regards
Thanks.
I assure you that no one has accessed or changed htaccess in years. We're strict with these things in order to avoid trouble.
Incidentally, I do remember that in Jomsocial 1.5.x, Facebook connect was suddenly an issue with too many folks many years ago, and unresolved till date. Sadly, we simply gave up after many months of no solution and moved on and away.
What other likely causes do you think? Has anyone with similar issues to this had solutions of late? We're in turmoil as people couldn't login with Facebook for so long now. We look like a joke.
The front-end account parameters created for you also access the Joomla Admin back-end as additional administrator, and to all
our hundreds of modules and plugins. Hope these help? In addition, if you need specific screenshots, do let me know.
Regards.
Quick Additions/Updates:
Hi.
Removing the redirect and reverting to a default .htaccess file did not help. A trace was then run, with a probable reason for the error:
8022 12:52:52 write(1, "Status: 0 API calls from the server require an appsecret_proof argument", 71) = 71
I generated a new App Secret from Facebook but this made no difference. Issue remained.
Not sure what an appsecret proof argument is, which does point to facebook or the Facebook Connect developer codes.
Regards.
Ha!
For now, I think I cracked it, in case anyone has the same issue.
I traced this back to Facebook Apps and tweaked the Advanced Settings to undo the unexpected behaviour and it seemed to work, ie. logged in now, ie. 'App Secret Proof for Server API calls'
