Hello,
I would like that Jomsocial users' status (images mainly) on my site is automatically posted on users own facebook profile.
I tested to login via facebook and it connects importing user avatar from facebook. But when this user posts an image on jomsocial it does not posts on his facebook profile.
On Jomsocial I set up "post status to facebook" to YES but it seems not working.
Can you help me please?
Thanks
Hi.
It's because photo post on stream is NOT A STATUS so it will be not posted on Facebook. Photo posted on stream is an activity post.
Hello,
thanks for you fast reply.
Ok I understand that a picture is not a status; so I tried to post a simple sentence with no picture, but on my FB profile the status is not being published, but only on my JS profile.
Thanks for your kind help.
Hi.
When you register via Facebook on your site, in first window you have small notice "This does not let the app post to Facebook".
Please, read this:
stackoverflow.com/questions/24529476/thi...post-to-facebook-php
It may contain possible reason and solution for your issue.
Hello,
thank you for your answer... I read the post, but I still don't understand what I'm supposed to do to make the FB app being approved.
I just followed this tutorial:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxQBh6bZSzo
Now you're saying I should do some more complicated stuff...
I can read on the link: "Note: People who are listed in your app's Roles tab will have access to extended permissions without going through review (e.g. publish_actions or manage_pages). For example, if you use the Facebook Plugin for Wordpress to publish your blog posts to your Facebook Page or Profile, you do not need to submit for review so long as all your publishers are listed in your app's Roles tab.
I'm using Joomla Fbook plugin (which I suppose can be quite the same as WP) so I should not be supposed to go under review about publish_action...
Please help me solving this problem... thank you!
Hi.
It's because Facebook recently changed his policy towards apps. So now if app want to have access to certain user data or do certain things - need to have permissions and be reviewed by Facebook. This is really not up to us.
Tutorial shows how to configure app but you still need to send it to review if you want to grant certain access for it.
I don't know "Joomla Fbook plugin" but probably it displays something from your profile/page on your site. So probably it doesn't eben need app id (so no review is needed).
If you have doubts - please contact with Facebook support.
I understand it's a Facebook request and we just have to adapt to that.
I was just asking for some help in configuring the app properly; I think that I'm not the only one having trouble with the new Facebook policy.
If I contacted Facebook (supposing that they will answer me...) they certainly would tell me to contact Jomsocial, so please don't play pinball with me.
Thanks for your support, but my issue is still unresolved...
Hi.
I repeat: you need to provide certain rights for your application and send it for review.
From v2.0 onwards, the permissions other than public_profile, email and the user_friends need to the submitted for review before you can make your app live; until then, only the testers/admin/developers of the app will be able to test app with those permissions.
I know I have to do in my own app... I was just asking which item should I put in the submission to make JomSocial working as I would like it would.
Don't worry I'm not asking you to do that for me... I just wanted you could help me by summarizing (as it has been done in the tutorial) at least which extra steps are needed (other than the ones in the tutorial) - since Facebook updated privacy - to get autopublish JomSocial status to Facebook, as the component _should_ do (and I paid to have)
Ok now I know that I don't have to expect any extra help in doing that other than the one (lacking since Facebook update its policy) in the tutorial.
Hi,
We have a newer tutorial that covers the new facebook connect setup and screenshots in our wiki
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Setting_up_Facebook_Connect
The only time i have seen facebook reject an app is is you have lots of fields that are non standard and then facebook want you to explain why you want to use that user information. normally it is straight forward.
have a look at this info and if you find this doesn't cover any of the parts you are stuck on please let me know and i will assist you further
