Facebook Not approving Jomsocial app

Hi JomSocial,
I have submitted YOUR app to Facebook for approval, but It is NOT getting approved! The whole reason I purchased this extension was to be able to integrate with facebook and now it seems it can't be done. I know this is a new requirement by facebook, but that does not mean that I don't want it to work. What do I need to give to facebook in order to get them to approve YOUR app.
I am getting denied for
user_status
read_stream
user_activities
It might be helpful to have the exact text of a submittal that has worked so we can use that text to get approved!!!
This is urgent,
Thanks
Tom

Not true!!! it leaves this scarey message for facebook logins to see.

This will scare away users NOT entice them to sign up. What must I do to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2nd request!!!

Apparently JomSocial is trying to get too much info from the facebook Graph to get approved, Please give me/us a way to turn off those required permissions in the back end so as NOT scare away potential signups. Otherwise this defeats the whole purpose of a community separate but tied to facebook.

In Spite of what you say, this is unacceptable. Every NEW signup that I get (I invest a LOT of MONEY and TIME to drive potential members to my site) is getting scared away by the 1 and only WARNING/ERROR MESSAGE/ PRIVACY ERROR that they see when the go to log in with facebook the first time. I have had potential signups call me and ask about the problem. NOBODY is signing UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They don't know they will never see this message again!!!!

And I am NOT going to try to educate them By putting up a message that says something like "The Authors of this component want to assure you that your data is safe, even though they can't even comply with Facebook's Policies on sharing information"

If this can't / wont be fixed Then this is a worthless component, it does NOT do as advertised, and I want my money back!

Hi Thomas,

New users registering with Facebook or new users linking to an existing account to your site do not see any kind of error or warning messages, Dimas meant you see the message for the first time only, not the first time for every user.

I just logged in using facebook and created a new account and there are no errors or warnings at all. I then linked to an existing account and got the same result. If you sign up as a new user and you see any other screen that is not like dimas's screen shot please let me know and i can record a video showing what i am getting.

It is possible i am misunderstanding the problem and if that is the case please let me know as i want to resolve this for you ASAP. In regards to being able to disable what is sent to facebook this can be done by turning on or off the settings in the facebook connect panel in Jomsocial admin

Ok, I accept that that message is never seen by my members, but what does the JomSocial Program NOT do, without these permissions?
Why did you build them?
What are they supposed to have done?
How do I get them approved By Facebook?

I want all the functionality that I paid for! I don't think that is an unreasonable request.

Hi Thomas,

Jomsocial has had the ability to connect using Facebook for some time and fields that we being used/ allowed by Facebook have changed. So the answer to your questions are

Why did you build them?

They were fields that were used in Facebook prior to them changing the API. If we remove them right now this may have an impact of users that are using Facebook apps that they set up some time ago

What are they supposed to have done?

They were a core part of the jomsocial facebook API until Facebook changed the API.

How do I get them approved By Facebook?

You can't. They are not supported by Facebook anymore in the new API (the old one yes)

I want all the functionality that I paid for! I don't think that is an unreasonable request.

You are right and you are getting all the functionality that you have paid for. The new Facebook API detects the old fields, shows a warning then once it is acknowledged it is never seen again.

These fields will be removed during the course of development this year, with careful consideration to all our customers, The new fields for the new /current Facebook API are all included in your product. They are all working correctly or they would generate an error, every time every person used Facebook connect.

When we use things like Facebook connect and access the Facebook API we are bound by what Facebook allows us to do, in some situations Facebook may change what they allow, then overnight it affects our product. If we jumped in and rip out these fields this will have a negative impact on a lot of our customers. On the other hand if it generates an initial warning to the site administrator this is a much better compromise for all our users.

There is a lot of information on the web regarding the Facebook API and changes that have happened and are about to happen. If you Google Facebook API there is a lot of information.

For our customers benefit we have also created a dedicated page explaining using the current Facebook API and you can read about it here documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Setting_up_Facebook_Connect

I hope this explains it a bit better

Have a great day
