When you say sandbox I do not understand, The FB app is available to the public - "This app is public and available to all user"
Their are no other sandbox settings in FB app

Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public? = Yes

Having seen the fsock disabled I have now escalated this to the server host

As there are a number of differences but are with the same provider are there any other functions disabled in the screen shot that should be enabled for jomsocial to work correctly

I see, so please you enable fsockopen as well.

and regarding sandbox issue, seems this is FB issue.. which the FB cant load sandbox app if the user still logged, and user need logout their FB first for making it works.

But for our test, I suggest you dont use sandbox.

that is disabled on my server and host is saying -

I have Community builder FB connect working on a site that is hosted on the other server and this works

I have set up 2 new sites, both just j3 and jomsocial, nothing else
1 on each of the 2 x servers
1 - isleofwightshops.com/index.php/jomsocial
2 - www.campsites.co/index.php/jomsocial
and 2 x new fb apps

fbconnect works on server 2 - cpanel53.uk2.net/info.php
fbconnect does not work on server 1 - lon-cpanel3.uk2.net/info.php (This is the same server that he original fbconnect does not work on, wightshops.com)

Can you please see if any of the cpanel settings may cause this difference as they are both with the same host and I do not know enough about linux to see what may be the cause.

am able to post from wightshops.com to facebook

it is just the login url that is wrong, it sends to a different website.

Nothing better to do at the weekend so -
I have copied the website to another server with a new domain -

Still have same problem, can login with JS FB connect but taken to a different webpage after login

You said the latest test "can login with JS FB right?" and the another issue is redirect after login to the wrong page? for this you can setup the Jomsocial redirect plugin and set the redirect after login from there.
