Hi

I am trying to get modules to appear on the right hand side of the groups but it does notwork.

For example if I want latest Discussions to appear on the right panel the same as your demo, I set its position to sidebar-2 but it does not appear.

What am I missing

Thanks but that's not quite it, I need to publish a module to the right of the entire page and to the right of the banner pic rather than underneath it.

It seems you are talking about the module position of the template not Jomocial inbuilt position.
Check your template layout and publish the module on given position. I am not sure which template and layout you are using.
If possible you can share URL of site and screenshot where you want to display.
If its socialize template, i can suggest better on it.
