Hi thanks for getting back i have checked all the requirements and it meets all that is listed I'm struggling where I put the new code in the licence part and click on upgrade but nothing loads up or even starts the upgrade as it goes to a blank screen just don't know why or if i'm doing anything wrong as i'm still quite new to website upgrades

Most probably a security on server doesn't allow such operation or file size is too big for how settings are configured. Please try download the package and install it using joomla installer manually. It should work.

Hi thats what I have been trying to do but nothing happens when I put my licence number in the box and click upgrade and the pages just goes to a blank white screen

Than please download the package and install it manually. I believe the scrip only looks for a an update for Jomsocial or Jomsocial Professional separately. So the first update needs to be done using joomla installer.
