Update to JomSocial 4.4 - how can i keep my customizing?
As described in the docu i copied some files to JOOMLA/templates/yourTemplateName/html/com_community
If i update now JomSocial, is it necessary to copy all files again to JOOMLA/templates/yourTemplateName/html/com_community and make the changes?
I also changed some translations. Is the file JOOMLA/language/de-de/de-de.com_community.ini overriden and i have to add my translations again?
Thank you for contacting us.
No, there is no need as you overrided them correctly.
Nevertheless this is new major version so files that you overrided may have some chnages.
In cases like that I compare both files in search of changes using diff:
www.diffchecker.com/
Just compare both files and search for differences. (note that your customization will be highlighted as difference). If there are no changes - good for you.
If there are, then apply your customization in new file and replace previous override.
JomSocial by default do not touch your native language files, just changes original en-GB. So your customized language file will be untouched.
