Storage integration for Azure Blob storage

ISSUE SUMMARY:

We are working on a Joomla + JomSocial site we'd like to host on Azure Website service. There's a Joomla official application in Azure's marketplace which makes the install pretty easy (it provisions and configures the website and its database).

So far, the only limitation we've encountered is that JomSocial does not provide storage integration other than to the local file system or Amazon's S3 service.

We'd like to know if there's any experience integrating JomSocial with Azure's blob storage you could share with us, to avoid implementing this code from scratch. Also, is this something you would be interested in "officially" adding to JomSocial?

Thank you for contacting us.
No, I heard for the first time that JomSocial user want Azure's Blob storage integration.
So I'm not aware of any success or failures regarding it.
Also there are no official plans related with such a integration.
You may post your idea here as a feature request: www.jomsocial.com/uservoice

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, I guess we'll have to implement it ourselves from scratch then. Is there any guide to implement a custom storage provider similar to the S3 one?

I've tried to fill a feature request but I cannot get to the right form, as the "Create new JomSocial Feature Requests" button on the User Voice page triggers a "loading" popup that never closes.

Yes, you'll need to implement it from scratch as our technical Support doesn't cover such an extensive customizations or new features development.

Just ignore loading and click "Create new JomSocial Feture Request", you can see it on your printscreen on the bottom ;)
