Latest possible versions with support for IE7?

JomSocial Expired

ISSUE SUMMARY: We're running Joomla & JomSocial on a closed (not internet connected) network. Unfortunately, due to limitations beyond our control we need to maintain compatibility for IE7.

I realize you don't support Joomla 1.5 anymore, but my question is actually what version(s) of Joomla and JomSocial can I upgrade to and still maintain compatibility with IE7? "Getting with the times" is certainly preferable, but not feasible when dealing with multiple government agencies across several different countries.

Currently we're on Joomla 1.5.25 and JomSocial 2.6.2.

Hi Tor,

IE7 is very old school, some of latest technology wont work there, and of course Joomla and Jomsoical use the latest stuff :)

I suggest you use the latest IE for the solution :)

thank you!

Hi Dimas,

I appreciate the response however as I mentioned it's a situation beyond my control. We administer the websites for a multinational government organization and some of the institutions are still on IE7. We can suggest they upgrade but we can't enforce it. Even if they were to begin initiating change, that change would be at least a year or more away.

So with that being said, I would love to update to the latest and greatest... I just can't. My hands are tied. Because of this I'm just curious to know how high in versions I can go with Joomla and JomSocial while still retaining compatibility for IE7.

Thanks again for your response.

Hi Tor,

I understand, this is government , this problem also happens on my country as well :)

I am sorry, it wont support 100%, but anyway you can try test it first on your local IE7, to see how jomsocial goes there :)

thank you
