ISSUE SUMMARY:
After Updating to jomsocial 4.2 the frontpage will show a white site

STEPS TO REPLICATE:

I have issue viewing your site backend due to ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED error.
Please, log in to backend and disable GZIP in Backend -> System -> Global Configuration > Server > Gzip Page Compression set to NO.


- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi,

I found some deprecated plugins, that not support at php 7
Header Tags
Canonical
jomsocial update
Nextend Library
iJoomla News
EasyDiscuss Toolbar
perchaiframe
DirectPHP
NoNumber Cache Cleaner

I turned off that plugins and still got white screen. please try to changing your php from 7 to 5.6

I changed it now to php 5.6 - the problem is the same.

Hi,

found the issue. please put valid email setting at joomla global configuration at backend:


It was empty. so I put any email address at there. please changing it to valid one.

FYI:
if you want to using php 7 please make sure 3rd party extensions support it.

Hi,

there is some plugins that triggering mail function. because the address was null, so got fatal error.
the error from joomla it self.
