ISSUE SUMMARY:
I'm setting up a site and I just purchased Jomsocial. When trying to edit jomsocial template as shown in your tutorial video, no options are available when you go to the template tab in configuration. Similarly also when you try to change the frontpage hero image the option given in the video is not available.

It's because you hold JomSocial STANDARD version where Theme Designer is NOT available.
Please, consider to upgrade your subscription to PRO version here:
www.jomsocial.com/component/digistore/licenses
Just find your product and use upgrade option next to it.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Hi,
I upgraded to Jomsocial pro but still when you go to the template tab in configuration the files do not come up when you try to edit the template as shown in the tutorial video. The frontpage image issue is however taken care of in theme designer.
Hero image can be changed in Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Theme Designer -> General:

Template files won't be displayed in backend so they can't be edited there. We deprecated this feature as files customized that way ware overwritten during upgrade. So the safest way to implement any changes in template files are creating overrides by copying them to folder in your Joomla! template.
Theme Designer granted you access to many new features and customization option for your site. Check them before you start to fiddle with files ;)
