Administrator activation link in administrator's approval mail not working

ISSUE SUMMARY:
Upgraded to Jomsocial 4.1.6 and Joomla 3.5.1. (php 5.6.19) Since the upgrade this happens:
After a user has registered, the link in the administrator's approval mail is not working. Tried the link in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera. The title of the browser displays: Error: 0 Invalid address:
The browser debugger console shows no messages.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Register as a new user - OK
2 User validates - OK
3 Administrator receives approval mail - OK
4 Click the link provided in the administrator's approval mail - NOT OK : browser opens : blank screen, title as above.
5 Manual copy the link in the browser - NOT OK

RESULT : Blank screen in browser
EXPECTED RESULT : New user approved
BROWSER : Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera (all latest versions) on Mac OS X El Capitan
