ISSUE SUMMARY:
I Just had a problem with a new user. He tried to sign up and was interrupted. He received the Joomla "Welcome Mail" and tried to restart the registration. He got then the message that the desired email address would be already in use.
He tried to login but did not succeed.
So he asked our support for help, they searched in the joomla users for this particular email, but did not find anything. As well they searched for the username and name. None of those information showed up.
I did a quick search on database level and found the user data at the _community_register table. This apparently doesn't show up in any Joomla search.
I deleted this row and realized, that there are another 20 such users recently stored in the same table. Some of those do show at the Joomla user search, others don't.
I would like to know what this table "_community_register" is doing and why such a problem might occur. It seems this tabled is flushed after some time, right? All the remaining users are from today, no old data there.
STEPS TO REPLICATE (not sure about all the steps):
1 Create a new user
2 do not finalize the registration process, stop after the first page.
3 Have a look at Joomla user search, the user shouldn't show up
4 Check _community_register, user should be present
5 Restart register process, it will claim that email is already in use
RESULT: User can't login, as the Joomla system does not finished registration, re-registering is not possible, as email is already shown "already in use"
EXPECTED RESULT: When registration wasn't completed and the user is not showing in Joomla user table, Jomsocial should not avoid re-registering by storing the data.
BROWSER: Firefox 45.0.1
Joomla Version: 3.5.0
Jomsocial Version: 4.1.6
PHP: 5.4.45
Hi,
I cant have a look at your site, your site info is not valid.
so my assumption the problem from jomsocial backend > configuration > site, at Registrations section.
please remove any value at Allowed/Denied Domains.
Regards
Hello Albertus,
I am sorry when I was unclear in my explanations. The problem is absolutely not domain related and looking at those settings at Jomsocial backend does show no active values.
Please explain the purpose of the table "__community_register", how it works and how it might be flushed through Joomla.
For why I would like to know this, please see my first post.
Thanks for your help.
EDIT:
Please see the table __community_register at DB level:
prntscr.com/aou5cv
If I use the email of the user Maria Orizzonte, which did *not* conclude the registration process and does not show at Joomla backend, for a new registering attempt, I receive the "E-Mail already exist".
Hi,
that table for stored temporary users data at step 1 in new user registration process.
after registration completed by user. the stored data will be deleted.
and if not completed. the stored data will be deleted after 15 minutes. for this, the cleaning process will be triggered at registration page it self, when any one open that page.
Regards
Albertus, thanks for the explication.
the stored data will be deleted after 15 minutes
Hi,
sorry, I correction my words. not 15 minutes, but the minutes from session lifetime at joomla configuration.
please set it to 15 minutes, after that access registration page, and revert back the changes to any minutes what you want.
Regards
Hi,
you can do it for a while. no need to set 15 min as temporary value.
if you dont want that way, the only way you need to delete it manually at database directly by using phpmyadmin.
the issue because the session is too long. there is no issue with jomsocial code. that table must respected joomla session table.
