ISSUE SUMMARY:
I have a private group ("Strategic Board") but still displayed in the list of groups.
Then, when I create an event in that group, effectively an anonymous user can see it in the list when we browse via the website.
However, if an anonymous user receives by email the link sent to a member of that group, then the anonymous user can access the information of the event, (example of that link is provided in the private comments of that post).

How to make it effectively non-accessible to anonymous users (and as well to non-members of that group).
Thanks
yves

Hi,

I want to make sure, anonymous = guest users, right?
As guest user I cant see any private groups of events.

Meanwhile, i'd like to clear one confusion once and for all.

I see many of customers still refer to groups and events as "Public" and "Private"

JomSocial never really had "private" events and groups. Private groups and private events in JomSocial are heritage of bad naming convention and terminology that brought us nothing but problems and we are trying to fight that since JomSocial 3.x

The most radical changes in that effort were implemented with JomSocial 4 when we introduced the switches to create "Closed/Invitation Only" and "Hidden" groups as well as events as shown on the attached images.

This means that group and event can only have 3 statuses.
1. Open to general public - everything in the group/event is visible to everyone
2. Closed/Invitation only - event/group page avatar, cover and description is visible to everyone. User will have to be approved member to see stream, photos, videos and participate in creating the content.
3. Hidden - Only Closed/Invitation only groups and events can become "Hidden" This means that group or event wont be listed anywhere on the site, and even if someone has a direct link to it, they will not see as long as they are not members of that group or event. The "hidden" group or event becomes visible on the lists if you are Super Admin, or member/owner of the group or event.

Tanks Albertus
this clarifies the roles.
I will put the group as hidden.
but I would have preferred to have the possibility also for the attached event to chose what to display (for instance only display the date and title in the list).
