Hello, i'm going to upgrade the jomsocial 3.2.1.5 that we've now installed on our website to the latest one.

I use with this old jomsocial version the Tigra template.

Considering that i use jomsocial with jfbconnect,xipt profile type,alpha user points and some other components i'm testing the upgrade on other copies of the website. Is a quite big community, so i need to test everything on another private domain and not on the live website.

So for the first test i simply removed tigra plugin and component and then i installed the component package in the joomla extension manager and i followed the wizard, basically i overwrote the 3.2.1.5 version, and after some fixes it worked fine with all the other components, but i want to ask if there is a safer way to upgrade jomsocial.

we have big different code in 3.2.x and 4.1.x, so I suggest you do full upgrading from ijoomla installer, be carefull with your own code because it will be replaced.

If you have any issue after upgrading don't hesitate to let us know.

actually can you technically explain to me how the ijoomla installer could be better than the normal installer?
wich is the difference between these two methods?

actually they are same, ijoomla installer make the installation easier, you dont need re-download the package from our site :)
