Server Performance

Today I have a view issues I better discus bevor running a big community.

My host in Germany is 1und1. I running a dynamic cloud server which means that processor speed and memory limits can be raised up to a very high level (around 1200, Euro) monthly cost. I am running in test mode increasing performances to the highest peak. (I will slow down of course) Switching back and forth only to see reactions.
Compere to the biggest Community Social Network in Equestrian Sports with approx. 140,000 User what performance level do I need if I come that far in user registration? (Not mentionspam attacks my site already must go thru.)

Assume that user workload is increasing to such high unexpected level. Is it possible to handle this at all? In fact would you guys have also perhaps customer help plans to provide assisters if needed for unexpected workloads on community’s build with joomlsocial.

Frankly I don't have ready answer. Your site doesn't only consist of JomSocial. Many depends from what you implemented on your site. How many users will you have and how active they will be. It's rather hard to predict.

Plans offered by 1und1 consist of physical space and RAM+CPU. So it may by that you'll be ok at RAM+CPU but need more space... or opposite, space will be fine but need more speed to process.

I think that the best balance you'll have just watching your site stats (Google Analitics). Just analyse statistics (speed and session) - then react.
