admin notifications link goes nowhere

ISSUE SUMMARY:
clicking notifications in jomsocial admin does not load any information

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 log in to admin then jomsocial
2 click notifications at the top

RESULT - a gray bar appears below the menu with no information
EXPECTED RESULT - list of notifications like emails not sent
BROWSER - firefox chrome
