That translation is not native translation method, that is using google translate method.. you can install extensions.joomla.org/extension/gtranslate for it

Would Jomsocial Language Packs be a native translation method?

I would like to install the Jomsocial Language Packs - Spanish (Spain) then add others languages in the future.

If a Spanish member was to change website to Spanish language and post comments or send messages in Spanish will comments or messages convert to the default English language or preferred language when others are available?

Goal:
- Ability for members to change the default English langue to translate website to Spanish or another preferred language when available.
- Ability for a member to communicate in their preferred language and other member to receive in their preferred language. This process would work both ways.

It will be converted to target user language, if use spanish and you send message to the user who use english, so the message email will be on english.

User can change the translation whatever they want, you should setup Joomla User Manager->Options->and enable this option 'Frontend User Parameters', the user can change the language from Edit Details page on frontend.
