Hi,
Please you update your socialize to v1.2.9, and the compile your less to css from socialize backend.
thank you
Why do I have to spend more money to do a upgrade on the template??? No where did you guys say that the new versions of Jomsocial doesn't work with Socialized Template 1.28!!! If I knew it would be an issue I would never have upgraded to 4.09! Now I am stuck and my site is down leaving my members stranded. This is ridiculous.
Hi, Carlton.
I'm really sorry but it seems that you upgraded your live site without any tests... or even backup (?)
It was said in many occasions to do a backup copy before upgrade or even better to test upgrade on dev copy of your production site.
You may also always ask on forum if old version of template will work fine with latest JomSocial.
Please, note that you have active JomSocial subscription and your issue is related with Socialize.
So in order to receive support in this issue you'll need to renew your Socialize subscription anyway...
Now, the only thing - if you don't have backup - will be to try to downgrade JomSocial.
Remember always do backup copy before you upgrade/install extensions on your production site.
The same thing happened last time after I upgraded to 4.08. Your support people did something to make it work. You can see the background information to this issue from previous email/support ticket in this section on forum. Your support Said something to do with template files in wrong directory, which there is no way I could have done because I do not have enough programming knowledge to risk moving/copying files. So there's an error/bug with the program duplicating files and causing the template not to work. Looking forward to your explanation because this is not making sense and causing my site huge downtime.
Hi, Carlton.
Which thread do you mean? This one:
www.jomsocial.com/forum/installation/27901-socialize-template
If it's not the one, could you search for correct thread:
www.jomsocial.com/forum/topics/posts/mod...-138573?limitstart=0
Yes.
www.jomsocial.com/forum/installation/27901-socialize-template
That one. It was after I upgraded to 4.08 and several things was already not working. I noticed that the layout didnt look the same so I investigated and saw that the Template was set to JomSocial so I switched to Socialized. All went to hell so I tried switching back and still not working. Thus the ticket was opened.
This is not an issue with Socialize Template or at least alone but JomSocial interaction with the templates.
Your support people fixed it somehow with a patch or something (not sure what they did) and left the following message below:
"Hi Carlton,
socialize template must only exist at [site root]/templates/socialize
socialize never put any file under [site root]/components/com_community/templates/
socialize not jomsocial template, but site template for joomla. the socialize compatible with jomsocial.
I suggest you to delete all folder under [site root]/components/com_community/templates/, except "jomsocial"
Regards"
As mentioned before it was not myself that added any additional files to wrong directory because I do not have the knowledge or would take the chance risking my site being down but here we are with it being down again for the same reason.
Hi, Carlton.
Those are two different issues.
Your first thread was related with JomSocial upgrade to 4.0.8 (you didn't mentioned from what version but I presume that the one before 4.x). Yes, layout of JomSocial was changed and it had no connection with template. JomSocial was just redesigned. You broke it as had little knowledge what's the difference between JomSocial template and Joomla template (as both are using word "template"... but in a fact they are different things).
Your current issue is related with outdated Joomla! template (Socialize) and newest version of JomSocial.
I'll talk with our template developer if we could do something about it.
Hi, Carlton.
Did you customized layouts? I see that there is a additional template folder... also layout names are changed.
Am I allowed to uninstall/reinstall Socialize?
Please, do backup copy of your site in current state.
for some reason I cannot access my backend.
Can you do a backup and do what ever you have to do to get this site back up please?
I am at my 9-5 and I think they have a firewall on.
Thank you.
HI, Carlton.
I did a backup copy of your site.
Started to work with Socialize... but you have issues in Global Configuration:
prntscr.com/8h9sht
I can't proceed (I need to disable gzip and caching, enable debug...)
Hi, Carlton.
The problem is that error in Global Configuration is not caused by JomSocial or Socialize.
Fixing it is out of scope our technical support.
Seems like your Joomla! installation is damaged or incomplete
prntscr.com/8h9sht
I can't proceed in this environment...
After much exhausting attempts and working hosting company, I finally got my site up again. But unfortunately a lot of information from template and patch files were again lost.
1. How do I save patch files so they are not lost during upgrades.
2. How do I save the Default-Frontpage-Image.jpg so that I don't have to re-upload every time I do a upgrade.
3. What compensation can you give me for my site being down for almost 2 weeks? The template was the obvious issue along with JoomLa/JomSocial upgrades that theoretically should be interlinked and tested together from both parties.
