upgrade @ ?

Hi,

I tried to upgrade from 3.2.1.4 to 3.2.1.6 through the

Components -> JomSocial _> Tools -> Update

But received the message that 3.2.1.4 is the latest version. See attached screen shot from today.

Also I am confused. In my download area in this JomSocial account there is a a new version 3.2.1.6 to download but I also see on your forum patches from 3.2.1.4 to 3.2.1.6. What do I do? Just what was in my account or the patches too?

And on a more fundamental level. I went through your documentation

Read.ME-PDF and Top 5 tips before upgrading.pdf

Despite giving many advices it does not actually tell you how to upgrade it manually, so I tried the automatic online version inside the module but as you can see that did not work either.

Please advice.

Hi, Karl.

Update option will be deprecated in next release. Please use iJoomla Installer or follow those steps:

UPGRADE

0. Make a safe copy of your whole system (files and database) !!!
1. Browse to Backend -> Extensions -> Extension Manager -> Manage
2. Search all extensions using filter "com"
3. Uninstall all JomSocial related extensions
4. Search all extensions using filter "jom"
5. Uninstall all JomSocial related extensions
6. Download latest JomSocial package from here: www.jomsocial.com/component/digistore/licenses
7. Unzip it
8. Install com_community package via Joomla! installer
9. Follow installation steps
10. Install iJoomla installer for future version check and upgrade.

After that you'll need to do a menu fix also:

When you upgrading JomSocial menu items in JomSocial toolbar lost "connection" with component. Joomla! mark them as disabled and with notice: "Component 'com_community' does not exist". In order to fix it please follow this instruction:

- click on menu item in JomSocial menu in order to edit it
- when in edit mode don't change anything
- save
- menu item should be fixed
- do it for every JomSocial related menu items (if needed) in all other menus

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Thank you for the detailed installation procedures. I hope you get the bugs weeded out by the next version.

So I was bale to install it even though I had a strange error on the first try:

Fatal error: Class 'Sh404sefExtpluginDefault' not found in /home/proutglo/public_html/resources/administrator/components/com_sh404sef/sh404seffactory.php on line 80

No idea how that happened. I ended up purchasing a $40 subscription for the sh404sef :-(

After installing that I was successful in installing JomSocial except I get this error now:

When entering JomSocial (on the front end) its says

"Group not Found" (see attachment)

and it then takes me to the JomSocial menu

Group menu item. From there on end it seems to work.

UNLESS one click on the JomSocial menu Home icon, then again the Group Not Found error appears.

It is disappointing. Its been 5 months months and the beta testers of the site has pretty much given up on JomSocial and its bugs. The other parts of the website RS-Files and Kunena forum have passed their testing and sub teams have started to load content. Only JomSocial remains untouched ;-(

Please advice on this latest twist of bugs.

Hi, Karl.

Your issue is caused by sh404SEF extension, it stores redirection for Community.html that leads to nowhere: prntscr.com/627qgn
There is no group with ID 0.

So this is misconfiguration - not a bug.

Please, remove this entry or ask sh404SEF developer how to configure it properly.

Thanks, spot on. The home icon now works and show the activity stream nicely not only from JomSocial but also from the Kunena Forum.

However I still face this problem: I created the first JomSocial group (from the front end) which went fine. However when tI ry to create a JomSocial discussion I got this error:

Sorry, this group is under moderation by the Administrator.

(I am a super user)

Other JomSocial functionalities like photo, event etc. seems to work and Enable Group Discussions is set to yes.

Please advice.

Hi, Karl Johan.

Golden rule is: ONE thread = ONE issue. Don't merge few different and unrelated issue in one thread.
This will make us harder to track your issues and other users to find solutions.

So, please, open new thread ;)
