Hello, we decided to disable all Jomsocia/iJoomla components/plugins/modules yesterday and our entire site stopped working., yes this includes our core Joomla site..we received "403 error...not authorized" on everyone of our Joomla pages. We have have not installed any other components or made any major changes since installing JS. So we then RE-enabled all the JS components and the original Joomla site "started" to work again..but not the JS menus. We found one item Jomsocial installs that evidently is fairly critical to operation...yet ironically it is the only item that does NOT include "Jomsocial" or "Community" in its name...however it is by the author Jomsocial Team. Its called "
Azrul System Mambot For Joomla" . So we enabled this plugin and walla, now our site is back functioning as it did before disabling JS components/modules/plugins. With that said, here are our two primary concerns:

First, why is it that when we disable JS our site no longer functions *at all*...we obtain 403 errors? There are many other components we have installed and enabled/disabled and uninstalled without any issues.

Second, and far more importantly, what is the best method to uninstall JS so that we ensure our original Joomla site still functions properly as it did prior to installing JS? Can we simply uninstall from the Joomla interface or is there a specific sequence we must follow to obtain a clean uninstall and ensure our original site functions properly?

Thank you for your time, we hope you are able to help us resolve this issue and we look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards,

Hi, Todd.

First I must say that your supported domain is now: "various domains..'
You hold a JomSocial PRO license so only ONE domain is supported (but you may Install JomSocial on as many sites you like).
So when you ask us to check your site, you'll be asked for VALID domain... and it can't be changed without valid reason.
Without valid domain we can't provide you support.

Let me guess; JomSocial page was set as your home page and you disabled JomSocial and get 403? Well then it's nothing unexpected :) There was no extension to access :)

Yes, Azrul mambot plugin is required for JomSocial to work properly and still it is a part of JomSocial. You should check JomSocial package.

Here is the best way to remove JomSocial:

0. Make a safe copy of your whole system (files and database)
1. Browse to Backend -> Extensions -> Extension Manager -> Manage
2. Search all extensions using filter "com"
3. Uninstall all JomSocial related extensions
4. Search all extensions using filter "jom"
5. Uninstall all JomSocial related extensions

And of course Azrul mambot plugin - you don't need it if you remove JomSocial.
If you want also to remove ALL data that was stored in JomSocial - you'll need to remove (manually) JomSocial tables in your database.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi Michael, appreciate your follow-up. Unfortunately your guess was wrong regarding JS set as the homepage. I wish it were that easy. :) Although I am not an "expert" in Joomla/JomSocial/PHP, etc. I do know a couple things about software/coding. :) Anyway, after disabling all JS comp/modules/plugins, we changed the menus and I also set a different menu as the default...still got the 403 error on EVERY page, not just the homeage...even pages where we put the full URL address and still received the 403 error. Fortunately we were still able to access the admin panel and re-enabled everything and change menus back. Not sure if it would reappear if we repeated the steps. If we have the same issue after uninstall, then we will be sure to get back with you or submit a new ticket, otherwise we can close this ticket. Appreciate your effort and taking the time to explain the proper uninstall procedure. Thanks again!
