I am rebuilding our site locally and need to transfer all Joomla and JomSocial stuff to new site.
How can I move all JomSocial data to new site? I found a couple of extensions that say they can move user data, but one has not worked at all and I don't want to buy another until I know it works.
Is there a way to transfer JomSocial users, data, activities, etc. to a new Joomla site?
Actually this is quite simple, what you only need is "do it carefully", this is the steps :
1. create new db on your liver server
2. export your local db and import it to the live server
3. upload all files inside your local to your live server www folder
4. edit the configuration.php, especially with the database config
5. done
I know how to move an entire Joomla site. Perhaps I wasn't clear in my explanation.
I have redesigned our web site and it is on my local machine. The existing site is live and has JomSocial and membershipPro.
I need to take all the JomSocial data and move it to the new database.
I do not want to import the entire data base, as I normally would when moving a Joomla site, because there are too many problems with this old one.
I found a component called J2XML that allowed me to export Joomla users and import them into the new local site. But when I view them in JomSocial, their activities, photos, videos, etc. are not there. So that's why I am asking how to export all jomsocial data form old site so I can import into new.
I can probably export each table one at a time and change the prefix, but there are so many of them.
Actually you alrady did it, you only need to import the #__community_* tables, and change the prefix, i dont know the 3rd party extenstions for making this method easier, I usually do the manual method like this. Also dont forget to copy the /images/ table inside your joomla root.
