Can we use products such as JQuery Easy with Jomsocial.
For example, I want to use the Google JQuery API's instead of serving the JQuery files from my website.

Can the existing joms.jquery-1.8.1.min.js files be replaced/redirected to ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.1/jquery.min.js without any loss in functionality?

Well, actually we modified the jquery function to avoid the conflict with prototype, so if you want use the jquery from google api it will be useless, because we use another source use our own jquery library :)

So Joomla has moved completely to JQuery but its not the same as that used by Jomsocial?
ie we are not able want to do things like consolidate various jQuery libraries, use the caching available via Google etc
Doesnt that make Jomsocial extremely restrictive and less than ideal?

Well, we are playing safe, to avoid conflict with another jquery version..
I suggest you use the DNS plugin, for making access the assest faster you can search it from extensions.joomla.org

anyway, I just an update news from our dev, in next version 3.3, jomsocial will be possible to use jquery from googleapis..
