JomSocial Expired

Hi

I am getting a blank screen upon Facebook login. After hitting the back button and then trying to login again it works fine, but initially everybody still gets the white screen.

I have the older JomSocial Version: 2.2.5 with Joomla! Version 2.5.11. I assume you guys are going to want me to update the version first. I am willing to do so but not sure what version I should update too or if there is any special way I should do so for a version so old. I do plan to update to Joomla 3 soon, but right now I am just wanting to stay on Joomla 2.5, get everything up to date, then move to Joomla 3 so hopefully I have less database or migration issues. If anything I will have a working updated Joomla 2.5 backup I can resort back too.

For some reason Jomsocial does not allow me the option to just click on a button to upgrade to the latest version. So I am asking for your recommendation on how to do so in the most safest way possible, any links to the upgrades, and if you think the Facebook Login issue is related in any way.

Kind Regards,
Jeff

Hi, Jheff.

Please, read this article: documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Updatin...d_JomSocial_Versions
It contains detailed description of safe upgrade.
Start with a safe copy of your system. In your case, as you have Joomla! 2.5.11 upgrade should be quite easy.
Then Install iJoomla Installer and it should provide a automatic tier upgrade.
Upgrade to latest version of JomSocial 3.2.1.1

If you'll have any issues after upgrade - open separated thread for each of them.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Thank you, I do have the IJoomla update installed and I do not believe it is providing a automatic tier upgrade option. When I click on the IJoomla Installer link listed on the page documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Updatin...d_JomSocial_Versions you gave to me it goes to documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/IJoomla_Installer which simply states "Coming Soon".

Hi, Jeff.

You can download iJoomla installer bundled in a JomSocial package from here: www.jomsocial.com/component/digistore/licenses
Just give it a try, if you have a safe copy - you risk nothing ;)

Thank You,

And I should be able to do that from version 2.2.5 directly to JomSocial 3.2.1.1 without any major issues?

I was at work when I was writing you, so I did not catch everything you said. I apologize. Well I made the mistake of not only uploading the IJoomla installer, I also installed the latest version of Jomsocial.. Wow! that was a mess. I could not even use my Home or SQL backups to get my site back. I contacted the web host and after a little bit of trouble to do the same they finally got it back up from 6 or so days ago. Now that I have just re-installed 6 days of work and have also updated Joomla to version 2.5.23 and made a full server backup...

I am ready to update JomSocial again. :)

So now I have installed IJoomla Installer and when I try to upgrade, I am getting an error message. This one states "No license identified for this domain. If you have a license, please visit the My Downloads page and enter your domain there. If you don't have a license, please click the Buy Now button to purchase".

I went to my acct and to "My Dowloads". Under "Domain" I have "No 'www' or 'http://'" in red. I a not sure if that means I am missing that or if I need to add that. I have tried both and the red lettering still does not go away. I am guessing that is why I can't download? I can not change the domain name I want support on. Are you able to fix that?

I also want to be sure, so you are saying that I can update JomSocial Version: 2.2.5 by using the Ijooma installer alone, correct? I don't have to do all this uninstall and reinstall stuff?

Kind Regards,
Jeff

Current versions:
JomSocial Version: 2.2.5

Hi, Jeff.

Notice saids it very clear: No license identified for this domain.
Your license number is for 420people.com.
If you try to use it under other domain, you'll get that notice.

But if domain is the same and it still don't work. Post about this issue here: www.jomsocial.com/forum/billing-issues

And yes, iJoomla installer should execute tier upgrade - just like described in docs.

Yes as in the Private Site Information I had to fill out for the support request, 420people.com is the domain I am trying to update.

The only thing I see in the Doc's section is where it states I have to uninstall and update to a new installation.

"To properly update your JomSocial installation from older version, you MUST make a tier upgrade."..

"Uninstall version 2.2.5 and install version 2.4.3. Go download version 2.6.3.
Uninstall version 2.4.3 and install version 2.6.3." ...

"If Joomla migration went well, at this point of time you should have clean Joomla 2.5 installation with database transferred but no extensions installed.
Now install again JomSocial 2.6.3 just to make sure post-migration process went fine and your community is there
Once that is done, you can download the IJoomla Installer and continue doing the tier upgrade much more easier. "

Is this the doc you are referring too? Because I don't see anywhere it states I can update version 2.2.5 with the Ijoomla installer, am I missing it somewhere? If this is not the correct doc, can you provide me a link the one you are speaking of?
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Updatin...d_JomSocial_Versions

I posted in billing about not being able to update my installation through IJoomla installer.

Jeff

Hi, Jeff.

I saw you posted in Billing Issues, good ;)

Documentation stated that you need to upgrade to 2.6.3 in order to upgrade Joomla! to 2.5. Only because iJoomla Installer can't be used on Joomla! 1.5. So if you already have Joomla! 2.5 and JomSocial 2.2.5 you may try upgrade via iJoomla Installer.

Just try it, with safe copy nothing can go wrong :)

But if you want to stick to doc - sure you can upgrade to 2.6.3 and then use IJoomla Installer... it's up to you...

Thank you,

But now that billing has officially reviewed my settings and stating that it is good.. I am still getting the error (attached below).
Notice where it states Jomsocial.com is not connected. That is not a clickable link. It just seems static that will not go away.

Kind Regards.
Jeff

Hi, Jeff.

You can ignore or even disable JomSocial Update plugin.
Ok, it seems that you need to upgrade to 2.6.3 in order to start tier upgrade in Ijoomla Installer...
My mistake, I'm sorry...
