Aloha,

We just purchased JomSocial and are preparing to upload to our site. The installation documentation indicated that we check the Directory Permissions in the Systems Information area of our joomla dashboard to be sure all items listed are writable. Everything looks good except it shows the configuration.php is not writable. Is it okay to proceed with the JomSocial installation? Is the configuration.php unwritable because the configuration folder was deleted after the initial joomla installation (or are the two unrelated)?

You can proceed :) configuration.php should be not writable and have chmod 444... all folders should have 755 and files 644.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Great. We started the installation process and everything was running smoothly. We are at the "Complete Your Installation" phase, it got passed the "Unpacking files" section and onto the "Preparing database". Under the "Preparing database" section it is "Done" with the "Install table schema" and "Update configuration" but is spinning and seems stalled at "Create menu item". Could you please advise to how long this should take and if it is stalled what steps do we take.

Okay, we are in business. I was anxious to hit the refresh button on my browser during installation even though it appeared the installer was stalling. But viola! I refreshed and the installation was completed. Mission accomplished.
