What's the best way to upgrade from 3.1.1. to 3.2? Your blog suggests that we need to uninstall the previous version and re-install this version. Unfortunately this does not work for us because we have an existing community with a lot of data. We tried an un-install and a fresh install on a test server. Even that does not help, as the database tables are not updated with the new fields. After the upgrade, Immediately on login we get a 500 Database error due to some missing fields. We are planning to take a look at the SQL file with Jomsocial 3.2 source and manually check the database tables, and add the required columns. Is this the correct approach? Or is there a better way out? Please advise.
(PS: Although we have provided the Admin credentials in this ticket, please do not perform the upgrade, as we still need to make a list of all the source code changes that we have mode to Jomsocial files. Just need some advise on the Best way to perform the upgrade. We have an experienced, in-house PHP development team, so if you can share some inputs and tips, we should be able to manage at our end).
Yes, the best way is to uinstall JomSocial and all related extensions. It works in most cases without issues. If some columns are missing then error 1064 should pops out... 500, thats a bit weird. Maybe before upgrade remove customized files in template override as some of them could also cause such an error.
If this will not work then there is no other way as to manually check JomSocial SQL file.
This seems to be untypical issue. Please share your experience if you'll be able to solve it. If you'll have real troubles with it, I'll pas the case to our developers.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.

- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
