JomSocial Active

Hi,

For a site that's already running with a few hundreds of JomSocial users, the site owner asked me to speed up the Joomla core newsfeed modules by engaging caching for these modules. Now it seems to me that these modules can only be cached if Joomla core global caching is on. Presently it is off. Wouldn't turning on global caching have a negative impact on JomSocial, like delaying changes in the display of user updates or the display of who's online?

Kind regards, Frits

Hi, Frits.

Some of our users reported that when caching is enabled "Who is online" modules are cached too and show outdated information.
Caching may also affect activity streams (minor chance).
Maybe try using gzip in Joomla! to speed it up (if your server supports gzip).

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
