JomSocial Expired

Hi JomSocial,

I'm trying to get all of my extensions up-to-date so that I can migrate the site from Joomla 1.5.26 to 3.x. JomSocial 2.2.2 was installed. I read the document saying that I need to uninstall 2.2.2, and then update JS to 2.2.5, then to 2.6.3. But I'm having problems with the 2.2.5 update, as described below.
When attempting to install 2.2.5 I get to step 8 "Updating Database" and it fails, displaying the following message:

Updating DB from version 0
.....
Failed
Patching Database
.....
Failed
Looks like you are upgrading from an older version of JomSocial. There is an update in the newer version of JomSocial that requires a maintenance to be carried out. Kindly please proceed to the maintenance section at HERE.

When I try to do the maintenance:
Run the User Privacy Fix
it never finishes, just displays "Updating" in the button, with "No Progress Yet".
How do I get this to work so that I can continue with the installation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best,
Bruce

Hi, Bruce.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi Bruce.

You are using very old Joomla version, which that version is not compatible with the newest Jomsocial version.. Please you upgrade your joomla first to the latest version 3.3.

thank you

Hi Dimas,

Thanks for your reply.
That makes no sense, because your own upgrade instructions state that JomSocial 2.6.3 is compatible with Joomla 1.5.26. In fact, following standard Joomla migration protocol says to upgrade all extensions to their latest compatible versions and then do the migration, which is what I am attempting to do.

Is there nothing you can do to solve this problem, because I am not able to install 2.2.5, after which I am planning to upgrade to 2.4.3, and then 2.6.3. Then I am going to do the migration to 3.2.3 or 3.3.

What do you recommend?

Thanks

Hi Bruce,

Jomsocial 2.6.x is a old version and yes that version is support with J!1.5, but if you wanna upgrade to the newest version 3.2, you need update your Joomla first to J!3.3

This references maybe will help you :

Thanks for confirming that Dimas. Yes, I already knew all of this.

So, can you now help me to solve the initial problem? As I originally stated, I uninstalled JS 2.2.2. When I attempt to install JS 2.2.5, it fails at the database maintenance step. Please look at my first post in this topic.

If I can't upgrade JS to the last J1.5 compatible version (JS 2.6.3), can I still migrate all of my JS data? What should I do? I've provided admin info for you. Can you please upgrade it through the steps from 2.2.5, to 2.4.3, to 2.6.3? Thanks.

Hi Brunce,

Ok for making this simple, please you update to the newest 3.2.x.x version directly, and if you found the bug then please let me know, and provide me the phpmyadmin access.. I will try to fix the upgrading by myself.

After you do upgrading from old version to the newest version, we need update the database record manually

thank you
