Install Hangs at 'Update Configuration' under Prepare Database Section

Hi All,

I have just purchased the PRO version of jomsocial and currently trying to install. I've downloaded the current version on Joomla and provided a clean install. Jomsocial was installed and then the 'complete installation' was clicked.

The jomsocial installer completed the first section of unpacking the files and even completed the 'install table schema' section but after that it just hangs and doesn't proceed. Please see the screen shot provided.

I have restarted the Jomsocial install and it gets stuck at the same point.

Please can I have some guidence as to how to get passed this please.

Hi, Andy.

1. Make a safe copy of whole system and database (I suggest Akeeba backup)
2. Delete all JomSocial related menu items and menu
3. Clear menu items from trash
4. Browse to Backend -> Extension Manager -> Manage
5. Type in search field "comm"
6. All extensions have "comm" in name will be listed
7. Check them and click Uinstall
8. Then type in search field "jom"
9. All extensions have "jom" in name will be listed
10. Check them and click Uinstall

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

OK, I followed those steps to uninstall and completed them all.

For your reference, there were no menu items to delete, there was the community package which was uninstalled (searching on 'com') and there was nothing displayed when searching for 'jom'.

I tried to reinstall after the steps you provided were followed but still hung at the same part.

I have uninstalled everything again and I look forward to some more suggested fixes.

Just paid $149 and it won't even install and so far the only support i've had is the instructions to uninstall it...

could really do with some assistance here.....
