I upgraded my dev server. Then the back-end is now very slow. And when I want to modify Jomsocial Configuration (Site,..), I get an error message 'Internal Server Error'.

After uninstalling Jomsocial the backoffice is speedy again.

I try to configure a brand new test server, only with Joomla 3.2.3. and Jomsocial 3.2.0.1

The problem is the same : backoffice very slow and error message when I try to modify Jomsocial config.

500 error message "Premature end of script headers" this message still generic message.

this things can make that problem:
- When you uploading your site what mode your FTP client? if binary some time will make problem. must using Auto or ASCII mode
- can be caused by the suexec wrapper in Apache. Check the suexec logs for the real error message, as the Apache log will only show a generic message.

Please ask your hosting support for more detail about 500 error.

I look at suexec.log, but it's not very helpfull for me :

I also check FileZilla : it uses Auto mode.

I also upgraded to Joomla 3.3,0 but problem is the same.

More info from my hosting provider on 500 error

I change PHP script execution mode from FCGId to CGI wrapper.

And now I get a more explicit error message :

0 String could not be parsed as XML

Please make sure your PHP having CURL extensions. If still error, please provide me your cpanel access detail. I need that to debugging purpose.

• cURL support enabled
• cURL Information 7.26.0

Solution is in this post .

Disabling the jomsocialupdate plugin
-> Solve back-end slowness (except for Jomsocial menus)
Modify administrator/components/com_community/views/configuration/view.html.php
-> Solve the Jomsocial config issue

So this is AGAIN a Jomsocial update issue.

Probably when I upgraded my server, security was improved, so Jomsocial update doesn't work anymore.

I advise other users to disable jomsocial update because it is not sufficiently reliable.
