The karma images are not displayed in profile. The reason it's not loading is because it's looking for a .gif file. All of the karma images in: /components/com_community/templates/default/images/ are .png files.
For example it's looking for karma-5-5.gif but the file in the folder is karma-5-5.png.
I read in this forum where a new folder had been added but that is not the problem.

seem your site using some IP restriction. please disable it first. I can't investigate your issue because always got 403 page.

There is some restriction at your server. the png file already there but can't read by path. by default will using gif files. I copied your gif files from root folder.

Do you mean there are restrictions on my server that will not allow you access to my FTP?
Or do you mean the restrictions will not allow Jomsocial to find the png files?

What does this mean for future updates?

Not related with FTP, but our code it self.
For Karma code we have conditions to check there is any png files for karma display. If not by default the code will calling gif files.
we will check our code compatibility again or maintenance it again.
