We have a Dev company that has completed Dev and UAT for upgrading our website from Joomla 1.5 with JomSocial 2.2.4 to Joomla 3.2 with JomSocial 3.1.1. They have done a fantastic job and everything is working as expected, however they have now told us that they cannot bring in current updated JomSocial data from the live site. The copy of the website they took for Dev/UAT is over 6 weeks old and we have around 100+ JomSocial users creating Events/Albums/Photos, etc daily. Can you please advise if there is any method we can use to bring across new/changed JomSocial content from the Joomla 1.5 with JomSocial 2.2.4 site from the time the copy of the website was taken?

The DEV company have followed the instructions for upgrading old versions of Joomla and JomSocial to the latest releases and the JomSocial content that they upgraded is working as expected. The issue we have is that there have been many changes (Events/Albums/Photos, etc) in JomSocial since they took a copy of our live website for upgrade, and we need to bring these across at go-live.

I have provided Administrator access to the source and target sites in the original post.

So as I stated in the previous status, all JomSocial content that was available as of the date the copy of our website upgrade occurred has been upgraded, is available in our Joomla 3.2 site with JomSocial 3.1.1. The issue is getting across JomSocial data that has changed between the copy of the website for upgrade and go-live of the upgraded website.

Since all the content for JomSocial is in the DB, I have done comparisons on the JomSocial object (data dictionary) changes between the source and target and can see in the target Jomsocial 3.1.1, there are extra fields, but all content seems to have come across with NULL or 0 in the new fields. Based on this analysis (in a copy of our upgraded website), I have installed the latest SPUpgade software for Joomla 3.X and simply used the "Database Transfer" to bring across selected Albums, Photos, Events, Groups based on ID's that are new or changed. Basic testing using this method seems to indicate that it works successfully and transferred Albums/Photos/Events/Clubs seem to be intact.

Can you please advise if this is a valid method to update/migrate content that has changed between Dev, UAT and go-live of the upgraded site as from what I can see if works without issues.

I just see your website, and is still using old Joomla and Jomsocial version, right? Where do you put the newest one?

Anyway, upgrading from very old version 2.2.4 to the newest version really tricky, you cant update it directly.. you need update it step by step from version 2.2.x > 2.6.x > 2.8.x > 3.0.x > 3.1.x > 3.2.x

OK..well you have not really helped me very much. I have used a process I believe will work to bring across the current content from our LIVE site to our UAT site based on DB and filesystem changes since the DEV company took a copy for upgrade and all testing indicates it works. So I guess I will continue with my current plan for go-live based on the fact that you have not confirmed or denied it will or won't work.
