Installation problems - Jomsocial does not show in Components menu
I have been trying to install the latest version and after finally getting past the issue with the database hang during installation, I now notice there is no Jomsiocial link in my components menu. I have searched on here, and see a support member says its an azrul problem.
I no longer have the Jomsocial azrul plugin (as had to delete everything associated to jomsocial - components and plugins) when trying to get past the install issue. Where can I download this? It says if this is enabled it will resolve the issue of no Jomsocial in Components menu
Hi Melanie,
As I am seeing you don't share your admin access credentials at here.
I can help you in this issue but before that, I prefer to have a full site backup and send us the admin access credentials.
If you like to do with your own then just simple download the latest version from our official site and and unzip
then install the latest package of jomsocial.
Thanks
thanks for responding. When trying to re-install, I came back to the same issues i had originally whereby it was hanging at the database installation bit. So I deleted everything Jomsocial and started again, it then installed, but the Administrator-Menu link for Jomsocial disappeared (as did a few other component links).
I think I found what was causing it (in my case). I had upgraded to the latest Joomla version and was getting an error in the Administrator - Database as follows:
Warning: Database is not up to date!
Database schema version (3.2.3-2014-02-20) does not match CMS version (3.2.3).
When researching on Joomla forums they said this can be ignored - so I did. However, as a last resort, I thought I would try and fix it to see if it made a difference. I found a temporary fix here:
and applied the changes, and Jomsocial now installs correctly.
Just one issue though with the Jomsocial toolbar menu, It does create the toolbar menu, but it doesn't work. The workaround for me was to create a new menu called 'Main Menu' the batch copy all the jomsocial menu items across to the new menu. Then, you have to go in to each menu item and reset the parent menu for each of the links as they all move to the root when you move them.
It would be interesting to see if others who are having installation problems also have that database error
