Original Question: How do I replaced frontpage picture on Jomsocial ver 3 stable 8 months 2 weeks ago #35959
Admin Answer: You can do that by replacing file /images/guest-bg.jpg with your desired image.

*** My question***
I dont know where you mean to find the /images/guest-bg.jpg . I looked in our media manager for that but didnt see what you might be referring to. Can you be a little more descriptive about where I need to change the image? Thank you so much. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thank you David. I am using a service through Jenny Baeseman, my name is Sarah Bartholow. You can contact me separately, if need be, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

I was able to find where that path is, within the HTML of the default template. In the said path: "\components\com_community\templates\default\" I do not have any choices other than 'default'. I cant search, I cant add a template, etc etc. Again I found in the code where to change the image, so i was able to at least break it, but I dont know how to replace it with another image.

within the default, I selected the file frontpage.guests.php, and the code i see for the image is here:
<img class="hero-area-bg" src="<?php echo JURI::root(); ?>components/com_community/templates/default/images/xxxxx.jpeg"></img>

So, how do I put in a new image where the xxxx is above?

Hi Sarah,

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. We apparently had a real issue on our forum and some posts simply were not visible for us. Our developers are currently fixing this issue and this should not happen again. I hope this didn't create a problem for you.
Back to your question : about change frontpage image.. can you give me FTP access and image file do you want to use ? i will try to change it for you..

Warm Regards,

David

Hello David,
My apologies for the delay. You can access an image here:
www.polartrec.com/ftp

and on the top level/Home page please use this file: IMG_3718.JPG
It would be great if you can have the ice break, where it meets the water, near the horizontal center of the display area.

Thanks so much,
Sarah Bartholow

Hello David,

The FTP site should be available publicly. There are no credentials needed to access our FTP site. If you are requesting access for something else, I'm sorry I did not understand.

Hi Sarah,

i already uploaded 1 file named guest-bg.jpg.. you can copy that file and paste it into \components\com_community\templates\default\images

maybe you need to create copy of this file because when you update jomsocial, this image maybe will be overwritten with original file.

Warm Regards,

David

Hello David,

I think we are coming back to part of my original question. I can get myself to the templates, and default page (see screenshot atttached)

but I do not see the group-bg.php where maybe I am supposed to upload the image? See also screenshot where I am seeing just one php area that is related to guests.

Hi Sarah,

you just need to copy guest-bg.jpg into this folder : \components\com_community\templates\default\images\

replace the original guest-bg.jpg file.. you don't need to edit any php file if only want to changed frontpage welcome image :)

David

Hi David,

The problem is that I do not see the path you are directing me to. The closest I can get is : www.polareducator.org/administrator/inde...unity&view=templates . From here, it is the screenshots I sent yesterday. On that default page, there is no option for uploading an image. I just must be in the wrong place but cannot find where you are asking me to go and upload.

hi Sarah,

the path i am talking about is on your CPanel file manager on joomla root.. you can't change frontpage image from jomsocial backend.. login into your CPanel, go to folder which you already installed joomla and jomsocial before and search \components\com_community\templates\default\images\

Warm Regards,

David
