Like many other people here in the forum, we're trying to upgrade JS from 2.8.4. to 3.0.5.3 - in order to get to 3.1.0.4
(NB your upgrades are extraordinarily complex. not very customer friendly)

However the upgrade gets stuck on the 2nd screen when "installing ajax ai plugin" and I have read quite a few posts about this. Unfortunately NONE of the posts explains what your support staff have done to solve the issue. So reading all these posts was a waste of time.

We have changed all required settings so all values on the first page are green

I have disabled https for the development site to avoid this pitfall, however the situation has not changed.

I would appreciate a description what needs to be done to overcome this, as we are also planning to upgrade the live environment. I do not want someone fiddling around on the server, but know what needs to be done, as we have to upgrade other clients' websites.

Hi, Gernot.

You have "502 Bad Gateway" error during installation...

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi Michal
Thanks for your prompt response.

We're running on a NGINX server and I looked into the server's error log:

2014/02/11 14:43:12 [alert] 3324#0: failed to register channel handler while initializing push module worker (1: Operation not permitted)
2014/02/11 14:43:12 [alert] 3325#0: epoll_ctl(1, 0) failed (1: Operation not permitted)
2014/02/11 14:43:12 [alert] 3325#0: failed to register channel handler while initializing push module worker (1: Operation not permitted)
2014/02/11 14:43:12 [alert] 3319#0: cache manager process 3324 exited with fatal code 2 and cannot be respawned

However we haven't had any problems with any other component, neither with the latest JS install - so it must be a new issue.
Is there a way to upgrade JS and skip the step in question?

Hi, Gernot.

In case like these:

In PACKAGE-> admin -> installer -> unpack.thml replace

url: 'index.php?option=com_community&view=installer&task=ajax_unpack&filename=ai_plugins',

with

url: 'index.php?option=com_community&view=installer&task=ajax_unpack&filename=azrul',

This will force azrul plugin to be installed instead ai_plugins

Once installation is done, install ai_plugins manually.

Upgrade is don but now you must install ai_plugins.
