Hi, Thomas.

All depends from your hosting provider. Server settings could be set in server administrator panel (for global change) or could be set in local php.ini file. Local php.ini file could be placed in main folder of your installation.

Try to create php.ini file with your text editor and enter in it:

mysql.connect_timeout = 120

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

thank you for your answer,

php.ini (/etc/php5/apache2) looks at me like this

; Maximum time (in seconds) for connect timeout. -1 means no limit
; php.net/mysql.connect-timeout
mysql.connect_timeout = 120

; Trace mode. When trace_mode is active (=On), warnings for table/index scans and
; SQL-Errors will be displayed.
; php.net/mysql.trace-mode
mysql.trace_mode = Off

[MySQLi]
;mysqli.connect_timeout = 120

mysql also restarted.
I have also tried it with mysqli.connect_timeout = 120
Unfortunately, nothing changes

best regards thomas

Hi, Thomas.

OK, then try this one: look for my.cnf on your server (probably /etc/my.cnf) and change there connect_timeout = 120.

Also ask your hosting provider for assistance.
