Hi, Maro.
Could you provide us with working link to your website and administration panel?
Also, please post (edit your first post here) data needed to FTP connection.

Did you check file/folder permissions on your server? For files it should be 644 and for folders 755.
Did you encounters similar problem when installing other extensions or this apply only to JomSocial?

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi, maro.
This is your server configuration issue.
As I saw you have messed up chmod and chown.
Recommended chmod for folders is 755 and for files 644.

You have for some folders chmod 777 and for some 755.
For files you have chmod 644, 777, 666, 600.

Same mess is with chown. You have 552 553 and also 106 506.

When JomSocial package is unzipped it gets chmod 777 and chown 106 506.
Next installer copy files to /administrator (777, 552 553) /components (777, 552 553) /com_community (755, 106 506)

Also when I tried to set FTP Settings to override Joomla! upload functionality... configuration file can't be saved. it's because server permissions.

Please contact with your hosting provider to help you set proper configuration.

Hi, maro.

I'm afraid that hosting issues and configuration are out of our scope of service.
Please read our support policy: www.jomsocial.com/support

I advise to contact your hosting provider for further help.

Could you please tell me which folder or dir need to change to what chmod. I can do it my self with your little help. Tq

Hi, maro.

it will be in vain because folder is created by Joomla! installer straight from zip file and according to instructions stated in manifest.xml. So even if you create ROOT/components/com_community manually and set any chmod it will be overwritten.

So how to solve the issues

10 years 3 months ago

Hi, maro.

I advise two things:

1. Contact to your hosting provider and ask for help in configuration.
2. Hire a IT server specialist to solve this problem for you.
3. Ask for help on Internet forums.
