I have installed jomsocial on the top of the absolute default of Joomla. I need now to only use Jomsocial so it shows in full screen on its own.
I am sorry if my question is basic I am still new to Joomla.
Could you please tell me how I can achieve this.
I include below a screen shot.
I also need the area where you keep all your documentations.
Thank you in advance for initial support during building the site.
Hi,
First what you want to do is go to the backend: Menus > Main Menu and locate the JomSocial menu item. Make it a default one, after that whenever you visit your site, JomSocial will show first.
Removing everything else is just going to the backend again, Extension Manager > Modules and disable / unpublish all modules. You can enable them back or leave those you don't want to disable in the first place.
That should remove EVERYTHING from the 'view' and leave you only with JomSocial on your site.
Documentation on JomSocial is here:
documentation.jomsocial.com
I hope that helps.
Hi Eric,
Thank you. Now I get the concept.
Where can I get good documentation about the descriptions of the positions that is used in Joomla. I have no idea when you place
components on the front portal.
Do you recommend a good book on templating with Joomla?
Also where I can buy good template to start building my Social website?
Kind Regards
M.
Hi,
The module positions are pretty much dependent on each individual Joomla template. So it's the template that decides where to show what. As for a good template for social network, we can recommend one of our own:
socialize.jomsocial.com
or you can use 3rd party like
gavick.com
for example. As for good books on templating, I'm sorry but I'm not aware of any, but depending on what you need a quick google search will reveal a massive amount of docs and tutorials.
I hope that helps.
Thanks for your reply. I am very impressed with the quality of the support as compared to the public domain. well done.
final question before this ticket can be closed. Where should I look in the template itself to see the list of locations. Take for example the
the basic jomsocial template that came in as default with the product. or does it take the template of the original vanilla install of jomlaa.
Hi,
Usually a joomla template comes with documentation from the vendor. However, this may also help:
