JomSocial Active Socialize Expired

Hello,

I have a privacy issue with the groups. I want every content from the groups to be hidden from public users. So I want to display the groups module e.g. on our registration page so that public users can see that these groups exist. But when they click on the group link I don't want any of the information from the groups activity stream to be displayed. Only when the user is logged in the activity stream is displayed.

Currently when a public user clicks on the group link the error message is displayed "This is a private group ..." but nevertheless he can see all activity from the group.

How to replicate: Please navigate to dev.expertforce.de/index.php?option=com_...&Itemid=1812&lang=de - there you will find the groups module with two example groups. Both are private. Then please click on any of these groups eg. Controlling. You will see the error-message but you can also see all information.

How can I hide this?

Thanks,
Uwe

Hi, Uwe.

Thank you for contacting us.
Your site doesn't behave correctly. By default when group is closed only group description is displayed.
Please, try my test site: www.prolusatia.nazwa.pl/test/groups/view...w-private-group.html

On your site some 3rd party extensions interfere with JomSocial behavior displaying stream even if above have panel that group details should be displayed.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hello Michal,

thanks for answering so quickly. Can you say which 3rd party extension is interfering? When I click on the group link I am directed to a page where no other extension is active. So I have no idea which extension might be causing it.

Thanks,
Uwe

HI, Uwe.

Hmmm, I can see only scripts but you may try to disable:

com_jrealtimeanalytics
com_jomcomdev
rokbox
arkeditor
cookiespolicynotificationbar

Probably some of their script remove default display: none; property from stream tab... so without it both tabs are displayed and stream on top.

Hi Michal,

it was not because of any scripts. This issue had a different reason. I have found out by trial-and-error. All information you have entered before (!) you make a group private is still visible - even after changing the settings. Only information which is entered after (!) changing the privacy is hidden from public.

I can understand the technical reason but it seems unlogical to me. Maybe this is a feature you might want to consider for one of the next releases.

Thanks,
Uwe
