"Read the message:" backlinks in email notifications from groups
ISSUE SUMMARY: When following a link back to a group from an email the user may not be logged in. It results in a "Notice. This is a closed group...." message. Are there options to allow an automatic log in for a registered user following a back link from an email? If not could a log in form be added to this particular page? If this requires custom development could you give me an idea if this would be a hard or easy task and a rough estimate of the time before I hire a developer? Thanks
STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Receive an email notification for a post in a group
2 Follow link back to site from email while not logged in.
3
4
5
RESULT: Notice that group is closed with no option to log in directly on page
EXPECTED RESULT: Automatic log in or option to log in on page

Thank you for contacting us.
I'm sorry to say that but this would be rather a bad idea.
Imagine that such ane email was intercepted by hacker... or just forwarded to someone else.
Then those users could also log in using just a link.
This would be a security flaw. Link should only redirect to certain URL - then user should use own credentials to log in... alternatively he could click URL in email again.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

What would be the best way to add a log in form to the page the link directs too? Currently if a user lands on the page there is no option to log in. The user just has to navigate to the front end of the site and is not taken to the link.
I see that you hold Socialize template license - you may use our template with JomSocial toolbar. Then if not logged in user will be redirected to any page - login form will be displayed at the top of each page. So don't need to navigate to any other page.
Also you may set in JomSocial Redirect plugin to redirect to previous page so after user logged in he/she will stay on page where they started (redirected after clicking link in email).
