Group Wall Comments Do Not Send Notification

ISSUE SUMMARY:


STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 Post a 'comment' to a Group Wall Posting / Activity
2 Wait for an email notification to be sent to the person who posted the activity / commented in the stream.

RESULT: Group wall comment notification is NOT sent to people in the Group wall thread.
EXPECTED RESULT: Comment notification to people posting in the Group wall and comment thread.
BROWSER: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Explorer

*If you would like to make a comment in our 'Wake Forest' Group, I will post a comment to your posting. You will see that you DO NOT get a notification that I made a comment to your Group posting.

do you mean notification by email?
I saw the email was created with subject:
Meagan Hooper has made a comment on your stream
that email sent to info, could you make sure the email not went to spam folder?

Hi Albertus,

Yes - I am referencing notification by email. Comments on group wall activity does not send an email notification to the users in the wall activity thread.

Where do you see 'Meagan Hooper has made a comment on your stream' ? I do not see any Group Comments sending email notifications in Jomsocial / Monitor / Mail Queue.

I will comment and you will see that you do NOT get an email notification.

*I just 'Reset existing user notification settings' under Jomsocial / Configuration / Privacy. Group Comments are now sending via email notification, however, the email notification is only being sent to 1 person - the last person in the thread.

Example:
Person 1 posts group wall activity
Person 2 comments
Person 3 comments
Person 4 comments.

**Person 4 comment only sends to last person in the thread: Person 3.** Can Group comments send to ALL people in Group activity?

Similarly, I tested on the Main Activity Stream for the below. Comments are only sent to 1 person - the first person to create the activity stream.

1) New Comments on Stream Items
2) New replies to stream comment.

Example:
Person 1 posts stream wall activity
Person 2 comments
Person 3 comments
Person 4 comments.

**Person 4 comment only sends to first person in the thread: Person 1.** Can Group comments send to ALL people in main activity stream?

Have these patch files been incorporated into 4.2.2?

We have several different support threads open that have responses where the system.php file has been modified, but its not clear if any changes are being permanently applied to the core release.

Hello Albertus,

The issue is not happening now, but that is because we have replaced the default system.php file with the one provided earlier in this thread. So the question is - do we still need to replace the system.php file with the modified file every time Jomsocial is updated, or have the fixes been incorporated into the core code?
