ISSUE SUMMARY:
Currently using version 4.09
I went to add an event today only to find that the only available time zones for Australia are as follows:-
Australia / Perth
Australia / Broken Hill
Australia / Darwin
Australia / Eucla

Which means my time zone is not listed - that's Australian Eastern Time, the big one on the East Coast where most of the the population live

Just for information - Broken Hill is in New South Wales but uses South Australian Time as they are closer to Adelaide than Sydney - that's Central Time

Eucla and Perth are in the same time zone - that's Western Time

Darwin is the only one that appears to be correct.

I wont get into what daylight savings does to our time zones but for your reference here are the winter time zones for Australia.
Eastern - GMT + 10
Central, - GMT + 9.5
Western - GMT + 8

that timezone depending on php function. that listed timezone from this php function:
php.net/manual/en/timezones.australia.php

we cant make any correction.

That list at the link is correct - but,they do not all show in the list when selecting a time zone, the only ones I see are the 4 specified in my previous post, if all of them were in the time zone drop down for events, there would not be an issue

I have checked my /usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia and all the info is there it just does not appear to be parsed by JomSocial

Please you check the "Server Time Zone" on Joomla configuration, do you see your new timezone? if not so this is not our issue, it related with Joomla issue or default system from PHP itself and we cant help you too much

It does certainly show up in Joomla and in everything else on the Joomla site that uses time zones, as I have Melbourne set as the default time zone on my three Joomla sites, I have only seen this issue in Jomsocial Groups.

Ah this is old issue on old Jomsocial version, please you update your jomsocial to the latest version for fixing this.
