Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
domain.com/groups and domain.com/events is visible to the public!
I have just realised that a non member just has to put in sitename.com/groups and sitename.com/events and they can see all my groups and events! Eventhough the group and event menus in the jomsocial toolbox are marked for registered members only. How do I prevent non-members from seeing this information?
JomSocial toolbar is a bit other kind of menu than the rest menus in Joomla!. It is uesd for INTERNAL navigation. It means that menu item in that menus don't have OWN menu item IDs but inherit it from parent menu item outside JomSocial toolbar (in most cases it is JomSocial frontpage men item). If menu items don't have own menu item ID no access can be set for them (as access rule is assigned to certain ID).
If you want to restrict certain links to JomSocial pages:
1. Create hidden menu: create new menu and call it "hidden" (don't assign any menu module to it)
2. Create Menu item that links directly to Events and Groups
3. Set access as "registered"
Now Events and groups should have own menu item ID with assigned permissions.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
