JomSocial Expired

Hello everybody,

I installed everything and now jomsocial is working fine. After that I did the customizing of the design,
as far as possible. Now the next big thing:
I will start a competition with people who can registrate and upload photos and videos
and some admins who can grade and add notes to the phots and videos.
There are 5 categories of photos and videos, I realized them with groups.

1. How can I realize that only the admins can grade and add notes e.g. with comments or something like that?
Whats the best practise?
2. No one should see the photos or videos of the others... how can I realize that?
3. Can I give each group another group picture?

Thanks a lot for your support!!!

Regards,
BGIZZLE

Hi, BGizzle.

As for now JomSocial has no ACL built in. So you'll need to modify some files to achieve it.

1. Try to modify certain view template by adding php condition (if) that only users with certain id or from certain Joomla! group can see e.g picture comment field. Then you'll have to get rid of comments appearing in activity stream. this could be a serious modification so I advise to hire a developer: www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers

2. This can be set in Components -> JomSocial -> Configuration > Privacy. Set default privacy to one that fits you. Then you'll have to get rid of other privacy options still available for user in frontend in dropdown box. Try to use some css trick to hide them. here is how to achieve this: www.jomsocial.com/forum/installation/133...-forbid-solved#68033

3. Sure you can. just enter to a group and change cover. It's simple as that :D

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Maybe groups are not the best solution for the categories. I saw that videos have got a possiblity to categorize.
Is the same with photos possible?

2. Germany is listed as "Deutschland" but listed by G like "Germany" in the registration form,
I`m facing this situation since the upgrade of the german language package. Can I change this by my own?

3. There is also an syntax error since the mentioned update in the confirmation e-mail of the activation a the user account.
Can I change the E-Mail text by my own?

Hi, BGizzle.

1. No, photos can't have categories. They are in albums... albums are kind of categories but only users create them for their own.

2. Yes, you can edit en-GB.com_community.country.ini or any other version of this file for certain language.

3. In this topic you haven't mentioned any syntax error... but yes, you can edit e-mail template as well.

Hi, BGizzle.

To do that use Joomla! language override feature:
Backend -> Extensions -> Language Manager -> Overrides.
Use search for value and then just enter new one with the same constant.
