Can I add group location including Country and City?

How could I set up? I look at the group setting and cannot find where to add it so it allows users to add where is the location of the group.

Thanks.

Hi, Linda.

You simply can't set group location and show it on a map. Group does not have location field.
If you think that such a feature is valuable, you can add a feature request: uservoice.jomsocial.com/forums/101561-feature-request

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi Michal,

Is it possible to have your developer to look at it?

Thanks.

Hi, Linda.

You mean that you want a direct advise how to achieve that from our developer?
Or you want that our developer create that feature for you?

Hi Michal,

Is it easy to set up? If it is not difficult you could advise that would be great.

As my website is for international there are many cities if I want user's homepage to show the activities, events, groups, members, photos in the same city. Is it possible to do it?

Thanks.

Hi, linda.

Groups and activities don't have a location field so they will be not shown on a map.

Events have location field. Also you can show event location map in event:
Components -> JomSocial -> Events -> Event Settings -> Show Maps in Events -> YES

If you want to display all events on one map use this extension: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi...ial-extensions/13130

Members also could enter their location.
You need to have at least Country Field in your profile. See what other fields could be use to set exact user location:
Components -> JomSocial -> Configuration -> Integrations

Only friends of user are displayed on small map in user profile (Friends Location plugin).
If you want to display all user on a single map, use this extension: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi...ial-extensions/12924

Also Photo Albums could have location fields:
Components -> JomSocial -> Photos -> Photos Settings -> Photo Location -> YES

Hi Michal,

Groups and activities don't have a location field so far and how could I achieve it?

Your developer could give direct advise or it will be added to the new version, jomsocial 3.2?

What I want, for example a member is located in Hong Kong and when the member login to the homepage and the member will see on the homepage is all the activities, groups, events, photos, video are allo in that locatoin or nearest location.

Thanks.

Hi, linda.

Achieving it will require a lot of core hacking and there is no simple advise for that.
This will be a huge customization...

So I advise to hire a developer to help you achieving what you need: www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers
Or ask for this feature: uservoice.jomsocial.com/forums/101561-feature-request

As far I know this feature will not be available in 3.2.

Hi Michal,

If we only want to add the group location could you give an advice?

Thanks,

Linda

Hi, linda.

I'm really sorry but I can't. Its can't be done by simple view template hacking.
This involves a core hacking... so it is a major customization... and they are out of scope of our support. I'm sorry.
You need to hire a developer to achieve what you need. Honest.
