Uploading pdf's to a discussion

Hi,

When creating a discussion in a group I try to add a pdf attachement. I click upload > browse. At the bottom of the pop-up screen I can see "format : all supported files". When this is selected I can't add pdf's. When I choose "all files" I can select a pdf. After this, when i click "confirm" in the jomsocial upload screen it freezes. A narrow green bar appears but nothing happens.

Should I somehow make PDF a supported file? Or what should I do?

Hi, Frank.

I can't login to your site.
Credentials ware changed?

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi,

The password might have changed a little since a previous topic, but the password I gave you in the first post in this topic is the right one. I just tested the account and I could log in.

Hi, Frank.

I just uploaded PDF file without any issue: i.imgur.com/oqYxDjD.png
Window that you describe "At the bottom of the pop-up screen I can see "format : all supported files". " is from your browser and has nothing to do with JomSocial. So displaying files in that window, choosing files or filtering them are browser/OS related things.

I've tested this using FireFox on Ubuntu Linux and it works fine...

Hi,

Yes, in this screen it seems to work. I can upload files to the discussion after it was created, that's fine too!

But I was actually referring to uploading a pdf during the creation of the discussion. There you can also add file, but this functionality only seems to work with images.

But it's okay I'm happy with uploading a file afterwards!

thanks

Strange, the discussions you created look different than mine. Yours have a block on the left, where you can add files

Mine don't have that. Plus there's another issue: when I create a discussion and want to type a discussion message, whenever i hate the space bar, the view goes to the bottom of the page. And I can't enter spaces between words.

HI, Ffank.

Ah, you probably referring to "Upload" in text field toolbar :)
This allows ONLY to upload photos in initial discussion post - insert them to text.

To be able upload files in discussions you need to allow that in group configuration (setting at group edit page bottom).
Then while creating discussion tick this option: i.imgur.com/I5yl57N.png
This will allow uploading files and upload box/file list will appear in discussion.

thanks.

Do you know what causes the problem that I can't insert spaces in the discussion description? The screen scrolls to the footer whenever I hit the space bar.

Hi, Frank.

This is caused by your template. It doesn't happen with Joomla! default template atomic.

Maybe it's your template "feature"?
Please, contact with your template developer.
