I dont want a start date for events. Only an end date so the system knows when something becomes a past event.

We can even make start date the time and minute the event is posted.

How do i do this?

I am sorry that is not possible, you can get rid the start date, and you also cant set the past event, that is default behavior from jomsocial :)

Where can I access the code that displays the start time and start date boxes when I click create event->event details from the status box?

I will set data types as hidden and create values to be current date and time my self, I just need location of code that displays this criteria.

You should hack the javscript code for it, you need hack this file /components/com_community/assets/release_32/js/bundle.js
